Teaching Style

When we do yoga together, I will be so excited to meet you. To me, there is nothing more exciting than beginning something that will improve your well-being and freedom.

This style of yoga is slow, active, and purposeful. It is quite different from many of the faster-paced styles being taught in the area. We go slowly and hold postures for 3-5 breaths each. You might find you like it.

I give lots of instruction and make lots of corrections for your safety and enrichment. I have lots of blankets, cushions, and tools to help make most poses accessible and beneficial to you.

I will do my very best to keep you safe and share the lovely practice of yoga in a way that honors you and my teachers.

Etiquette Reminders
  • Please enter quietly and make yourself comfortable. It can be very beneficial to take a few moments to become quiet and still before class.

  • If you arrive late, please wait until the class is actively moving to enter.

  • If you need to leave class early, please leave before Savasana (7 - 10 minute final resting pose).

  • Some people do not like their mats stepped on...it can be considered someone's sacred space.

  • Please set your phones to silent, as vibrate is still pretty loud when it is bouncing around in a wooden cubby (lol)

  • If you are contagious with anything, please stay home and get well soon.

My Teachers

Lillah Schwartz
Known by appreciative students across the country as “the queen of alignment,” yoga instructor and author Lillah Schwartz brings the benefits of her 35 years’ training with yoga experts, like BKS Iyengar, Aadil Palkhivala, Eric Small, Mathew Sanford, and others to the Southeast region and, through her workshops, to studios across the eastern and central U.S.
Her hundreds of hours of study in the U.S. and India with senior Iyengar instructors makes Lillah one of the most accomplished yoga teachers in the Southeast region. She pioneered the Iyengar method in North Carolina from 1981- 2009 and held an Iyengar teaching certificate for 23 years. Lillah brings the science and spirit of yoga wisdom to thousands who have become pain-free from her alignment-based instruction.

Ms. Molly Martin of Macon, GA.  Molly taught me so much about yoga.  Her teaching language is beautiful and she really helped me to fully focus on my body. Her toolbox is diverse!  She led me in some of the best meditation sessions I have ever had. She was then and continues to be, the most grace-filled person I have ever met. If we are lucky, some Molly-isms may occur in our group class.

Dr. Elizabeth Patrenos of Macon, GA.  Elizabeth had a fun, strong yoga practice and a sweet way about her. I loved her classes and she is the one I can credit with introducing me to sun salutes and a relaxed way of being in the world.  It helped that she loved lattes and cookies, just like me.
